Summer Activity 5 - The Lovely Bones
I must really not have anything to do this summer considering I just finished yet another book. This time the book is called The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. You might recognize the title of this book since it was recently made into a major motion picture film. That is basically how I became interested in the book. No I didn't see the movie yet, but I heard about the story and got interested. The book is basically from the point of view of a young girl (14) who was murdered. She's in the "in-between" and watches over her family, friends, and her murderer. What caught me about this book was the unique point of view it places the reader in. It's basically a third person story told in a first person point of view - kind of like an omniscient third/first person. There some parts in the book that I didn't like, but that was just because of some of my personal values and me getting too into the book. I heard from a friend that the movie wasn't that great, but I can say that the book was pretty interesting and overall a good read. Now I have another movie to watch in addition to The Time Traveler's Wife which I still haven't watched yet. Well, I do seem to have a lot of time on my hands so watching the movies won't seem to be a problem. But yes, if you're looking for another good book to read, I would recommend The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold as well. Toodles.
